    Nintendo has officially ended production on the Nintendo 3DS system, almost 10 years after the handheld console's initial launch.
    In a statement recently obtained by GamesIndustry.biz , a Nintendo spokesperson clarified that the developer/publisher had indeed discontinued production of the handheld.
    "We can confirm that the manufacturing of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has ended," reads the statement. "Nintendo and third-party games for the Nintendo 3DS family of system will continue to be available in Nintendo eShop, on Nintendo.com and at retail".

    Nintendo has now discontinued the popular Nintendo 3DS system. The Japanese website says “out of production” on each Nintendo 3DS product page. The North American Nintendo website has erased all mention of the system. It seems that Nintendo is now completely focussed on Nintendo Switch. Source

    It's been a long time since Nintendo released a title for the 3DS, but they have been manufacturing more units of the portable for sale around the world. Now that manufacturing run has come to an end.
    Nintendo has announced that they're officially ceasing production of the 3DS family of devices. That includes any device in the 3DS family, such as 2DS, New 2DS XL, and so on. Whatever is available on store shelves now is all that there will be. If you want to add one of the portables to your collection, now's the time to do so.

    Nintendo has officially ended production of the 3DS series handhelds in Japan, according to its official website. While it is unclear exactly when production ended, the Wayback Machine shows that the note of production ending was not on the website on September 15. 3DS first launched in February 2011.
