14 days ago - By Touch Arcade

While it's hard to ignore the shift in focus with regards to mobile gaming at Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix remained one of the few major publishers with a handful of mobile games to talk about. Some of them will come to the West, some will most likely not. But for the sake of completeness, we'll run down all of the offerings at and around Square Enix's booth at the 2022 show.
The biggest title is undoubtedly Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered , which will be coming to a wide variety of platforms globally including iOS and Android on December 1st, 2022. The Japanese price for the...

TGS 2022: Konami Continues Its Strong Commitment to Mobile Gaming

While it may be to the chagrin of some fans, Konami has in recent years put a lot of its weight into its mobile gaming projects, particularly in the Japanese market. This year's Tokyo Game Show showed that the company is going to keep putting its chips on that segment, even as it slowly begins to thaw the frosty approach it has had for other platforms of late. Its mobile offerings were relegated to sizzle reels and livestream events, but there certainly were a lot of them. Most of them were previously-launched games with new content, but there were a few new things as well. The one recurring theme? Virtually all of them are connected with a manga or anime...

TGS 2022: SEGA, Capcom, Koei Tecmo, and Others Focus on Console and PC

By now, you may have seen some of the things I've written about other companies and their Tokyo Game Show 2022 offerings. There were some interesting games from Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and Konami in particular, which isn't terribly unexpected given the fact that mobile gaming remains the most popular form of video games in Japan. What is perhaps more surprising is who didn't have any mobile games to show. Whether these companies didn't have any mobile games to show at all or simply chose not to put them forward at the show, it was interesting to see names who had been aggressively...

Square Enix has released a new video for its recently-announced RPG Octopath Traveler 2. The video, shown off during Tokyo Game Show, features 20 minutes of gameplay. Check it out below .
The video provides a great, in-depth look at a bit of early-game gameplay. It also indicates that the widely-praised art style will be returning, along with new features such as a fast travel system and dynamic camera angles for particularly strong attacks during combat.
