Super Nintendo World opening postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions

Universal Studios Japan has announced that it will postpone the opening of its Super Nintendo World theme park. Yesterday saw Osaka - alongside 10 other prefectures of Japan - placed into a state of emergency following a surge of COVID-19 infections, which has halted Universal Studios' plans to open the gates on February 4.

Universal Studios Japan had originally planned to open Super Nintendo World in the Summer of 2020, but the pandemic made that impossible. Universal then pushed back the opening to Feb. 4th, 2021, but unfortunately, that date is no longer happening either.
Universal Studios Japan has announced that Super Nintendo World will now open later than Feb. 4th, 2021, but no specific date was given. This delay has come about due to the pandemic as well, as a variant that spreads more quickly has hit Japan. When a new opening date is shared, we'll bring that to you.
