Money is no good in a zombie apocalypse, which is why the only form of currency that matters in State of Decay 2 is Influence Points. Five years after the original State of Decay, State of Decay 2 launches on the Xbox One with co-op. Has this been enough time to make a better zombie survival game, or does this feel like an expansion? Check out our review and find out.

  • State of Decay 2 reviews round-up, all the scores

    9 days ago - By VG 247

State of Decay 2 is almost here, so it's time to see how well it's fared with critics.
State of Decay 2 is the sequel to Undead Labs' first outing, which has over the years built a bit of a cult following. Part zombie shooter, part management sim, part RPG, State of Decay and its sequel are far from your typical zombie games.
In State of Decay 2 you play as a various members of a community, one which you're trying to build around the resources you and other members scavenge. You'll have to manage the community's needs and defend your base, not to mention having to deal with other hurdles...

    Review: State of Decay 2

9 days ago - By Destructoid

Let me introduce you to The Refugees. They're a hardy bunch, ten survivors who banded together in an abandoned strip mall. Every member of their post-apocalyptic community brings a little something different to the table. Oscar, or Grouch as he likes to be called, fashions himself as a lawful sheriff, quick to lend aid to other pockets of humanity and always prepared to dish out justice. Terri is a bit of a loner; a former goth teen who's knows her way around a building's plumbing system.
For two straight weeks, The Refugees pushed back against a world where walking, talking, and even...

State of Decay 2 Review - The Lie of Hope

Survival games are an art form unto themselves, the perfect coalescence of resource gathering, exploration and building. The utter freedom presented to players can be overwhelming but the agency to do whatever, as in Minecraft, can be empowering. Similarly, having the player on a somewhat fixed path with a strong narrative like Subnautica can be enthralling. Achieving that balance is tough, especially when the player is tasked with performing many of the same repetitive tasks for the sake of progress. Tip the scales too far in one particular direction and you wind up frustrating...

Where's Our State Of Decay 2 Review?

9 days ago - By Game Informer

The review embargo for State of Decay 2 is up, but I'm not quite ready to provide my final evaluation of the game. It's a huge game, with three playable maps and a complex web of interconnected systems to work through. I'm not going to give a score at this time, but I can share some of my overall impressions. Much like its predecessor , it's an ambitious game hamstrung by technical issues.
The game's biggest addition is the introduction of co-op, with up to four players working together online. One player acts as a host, while the others join the cause and help battle zombies and ransack...

    State of Decay 2 Review

9 days ago - By CG Magazine

The zombie survival sim State of Decay released nearly five years ago with a remastered version releasing just two years later. Its sequel was announced at E3 2016 and slated for release in 2017, only to be pushed back to now. In spite of this, it still doesn't feel finished, or like much of a sequel at all. But if you absolutely loved the zombie survival simulation of the first game , this is more of that, pending you can overlook all the new bugs.
