January is traditionally a slow month for gaming, but Nintendo is fleshing out its lineup this month with two, count-em two, Mario games-both remakes. First up is New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe , which bundles the original Wii U game with its Luigi-centric DLC and adds Toadette as a playable character. I already own the game on Wii U and honestly I always found it somewhat underwhelming, even compared to the other New Super games. While there were some standout levels like the one based on Starry Night, overall the game just felt uninspired and a bit rote to me, so I'm not sure I'll be...

What Remaining Wii U Games Do You Want Ported To Switch?

Today marks the release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. I spent much of the last week revisiting the 2D platformer from the Wii U launch , and it reminded me of just how many good games released on the Wii U despite the system never really finding a substantial audience. I want more of those now-hidden gems to make their ways to Switch.
We've already received several great games from Wii U, such as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Pokkén Tournament, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta 2 on Switch, but we've barely scratched the surface of...

  • Yep, New Super Mario Bros. U is still great on Switch, mostly thanks to Luigi

It took me a long, long while to warm up to the "New" Mario series.
I thought the DS debut was rather stale and devoid of life, but over time it started to prove its mettle. The Wii version was a slight improvement, but it really wasn't until New Super Mario Bros. 2 's DLC and New Super Mario Bros. U 's Luigi expansion that I started to get on board.
With the aforementioned freedom of add-on projects, the New developers are allowed to spread their wings and try new things. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe on Switch benefits from said ingenuity.
